Translation into Gujarati, explained point by point
Everything the GCSE specification expects you to be able to do, and how to actually do it - the same lesson a signed-in student studies from.
Know the task at each tier
Foundation Question 4 is five English sentences to translate into Gujarati, getting harder as they go: the first three worth 2 marks each and the last two 3. Higher Question 3 is a short paragraph, marked as a whole out of 12.
Translate every word, in Gujarati
An English word left in the answer earns nothing. If a word escapes you, use a simpler Gujarati word that keeps the meaning.
Put the verb last
I play cricket with my brother becomes હું મારા ભાઈ સાથે ક્રિકેટ રમું છું: subject first, verb last, and the postposition after its noun.
Check the tense and the person of every verb
A badly formed tense, or a verb ending that belongs to another person, gets in the way of the meaning, and the mark grids say so. Check each ending against its subject: અમે ગયા, તેણે ખાધું.
Remember the past with an object
I watched a film is મેં ફિલ્મ જોઈ, not હું ફિલ્મ જોઈ. The agent form and the agreement with the object are where marks are often lost.
Know which slips matter least
A slip of gender or adjective agreement does not stop the meaning, so it costs less than a muddled tense or a missing word. Get the message across first, then polish.
