What are the GCSE Physics grade boundaries?
There is no fixed mark for each grade in GCSE Physics - exam boards set the boundaries after marking every series, so they move year to year with paper difficulty. As a rough planning guide, the tables below show representative percentages averaged from recent published boundaries. Treat them as a compass for revision, never a promise about your exam.

Why there is no fixed pass mark
Grade boundaries exist to keep grades fair across years. If one year's papers turn out harder, the boundaries come down so that the same standard of work earns the same grade - which is why the "what percentage is a 7?" question only ever has an approximate answer, and why a hard paper is never the disaster it feels like on the day.
The official boundaries for your series are published by your exam board on results day, as raw marks per paper. Until then, nobody - not your teacher, not a forum thread - knows where they will land.
Representative boundaries - Higher tier
Higher tier papers target grades 4–9 (with a narrow allowed grade 3), so the percentages run high - a grade on higher is earned on harder questions.

Foundation tier papers target grades 1–5, so the same grade sits at a higher percentage than on higher tier - the questions are more accessible, and the boundary reflects that.

How to actually use these numbers
Use the table as a compass, not a target to scrape. If a grade you want sits around a given percentage, aim your practice a comfortable margin above it - boundaries move, and marks in the bank beat marks at the line. Scoring past papers against last year's published boundaries (on your board's website) gives you the same signal with real questions.
And remember what the numbers are for: they turn "am I on track?" from a feeling into a plan. The productive response to a gap is not worry - it is knowing exactly which topics will close it.
