Delete your account

You can delete your GCSEwiz account and everything in it whenever you like. It works the same whether you use the website or the GCSEwiz app on Android or iPhone.

How to delete it

  1. Sign in on the website and open your account page. In the app, Settings has a Delete your account button that takes you there.
  2. At the bottom, under Delete your account, ask for a link.
  3. We email the link to the address on the account. Open it, signed in to the same account, and press Delete my account.

It takes both, being signed in and having the account’s email, so nobody can delete an account that is not theirs. The link works for 30 minutes.

Can’t sign in? Reset your password from the sign-in page, or use Continue with Google if that is how you joined. If you no longer have the account’s email address, write to us at [email protected]. To keep your account safe we will not delete it on an email alone, so we will help you back in first.

If you pay for Premium

If you pay on the GCSEwiz website, deleting your account cancels the subscription as well, and nothing more is charged.

If you subscribed in the app, through Google Play or the App Store, cancel the subscription there first. Only you can cancel it, and deleting your account does not stop the store charging, so the account page asks you to do this before it sends the link. On Android, open the Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions. On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions.

What we delete

Your account, your profile and settings, every answer you have given, your progress and reports, any report links you have shared, and your saved choices such as your subjects and weekly goal. They are deleted straight away when you confirm.

A few copies take a little longer to disappear on their own: our encrypted backups are deleted after 30 days, and the activity and fault log, which can hold what you asked Wiz and answers you sent for marking, after 90 days. The record our app store payments partner keeps of your account goes at the same time as the account.

Anything the app keeps on your phone, such as your practice reminders, goes when you remove the app.

What we have to keep

Billing records, if you ever paid, for 6 years after the end of the tax year, as UK law requires. A short record that the account was deleted, for 24 months, so we can show the request was carried out.

Deleting some of your data instead

You do not have to delete everything. Email [email protected] from the address on your account and tell us what you would like removed or corrected. To keep a copy of your answers, open Reports, choose “The numbers”, then “Download your answers”.

Our privacy policy has the full detail of what we collect and the rights you have over it.
